Rotary Club Honors Students Of The Month

Hershey Rotary Club has recognized six local high school seniors as Students of the Month for March. The honorees are Ece Aydogan and Moiz Nasir from Hershey High School, Carly Dupes and Benjamin Staker from Middletown Area High School, and David Godwin and Victoria Marie Ortiz Guerrero from the Milton S. Hershey High School.

Ece is the daughter of Ebru and Umur Aydogan of Hummelstown. She has won class achievement awards in math and English and academic achievement awards in French, English, history, chemistry, physics, and biology. She was also named an AP Scholar With Distinction and received a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certificate of Merit. Ece is a member of the National, French, and Mathematics honor societies. She has been a member of the tennis team throughout high school and participated in Mini-THON. Outside of school, Ece has been involved in several environmental and social programs around Hershey, such as trash cleanup programs, tree plantings, clean water activism, and Cocoa Packs. She tutored fellow students in French and calculus and volunteered at a Campbelltown retirement home. She plans to study biomedical science at an international university, such as the University of Geneva or the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.

Moiz is the son of Nasir Iqbal and Munima Nasir of Hummelstown. Moiz has served as president of the National Honor Society (NHS), a section leader in marching band, and a youth governor at the YMCA's Pennsylvania Youth and Government. He has also participated in jazz band and the Health Career Exploration Program. His volunteer activities have included student tutoring through the NHS, teaching Sunday school at the Islamic School of Greater Harrisburg, organizing a food pantry at the Islamic School of Greater Harrisburg, assisting with Cocoa Packs, and helping at the Hershey Medical Center Gift Shop and 5-Acute-Care Facility. Moiz plans to attend Penn State's Schreyer Honors College to major in biology.

Carly is the daughter of Carl and Jannell Dupes of Middletown. Her school activities include Key Club, Mini-THON, Link Crew, FCCLA, prom committee, and NHS. In 2021, Carly was named homecoming queen. Additionally, Carly has been a four-year starter on the volleyball and softball teams, as well as captain for two years on the softball team. She was a first team All-Star in volleyball her sophomore and junior years and a first team all-conference her senior year. Carly plans to attend either James Madison University to study nursing or the University of Delaware to major in applied molecular studies.

Benjamin is the son of Tom and Jen Staker of Middletown. He has been a member of the baseball team and has been active with the high school division of Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda. Benjamin has been listed on the distinguished honor roll throughout high school. He recently completed an internship with a local newspaper. Benjamin plans to attend Millersville University to major in sports journalism.

David has been a member of NHS, the National Technical Honor Society and the varsity track team. He has volunteered with his school's Admissions Office and helped clean several buildings on the school's campus during the summer. He would like to attend Villanova University to study finance.

Victoria, the daughter of Angela Guerrero and Julio Ortiz of Passaic, N.J., has been a student at the Milton Hershey School since third grade. In high school, she has been the principal cellist for the MHS String Ensemble; played varsity soccer; participated in Mock Trial, student government, and public safety and security; and was selected to be the soccer representative to the Athlete Council her senior year. Victoria serves as secretary for student advocacy in the executive branch of student government. She plans to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan to study forensic psychology. Her goal is to become a registered psychologist working in a prison setting or performing research in neurocriminology.
