Acorn Acres Plans Summer Camps

Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation will offer four kids' camps this summer. Classes will be held outdoors at Freedom Memorial Park, 100 Municipal Drive, Millersville, on select Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. and will emphasize using one's senses. The camps are designed for children ages 5 to 12 and will include games, science hunts, storytelling, interactive games, movement, math, songs and more.

First Impressions - Insects and Animals will take place on June 12. Children will note their first reactions to different animals and then see whether their reaction changes when they learn more about the animal. Children will combine movement and math to show how they think and feel about animals.

Acorn Acres will offer Ants on Parade on July 10. In this program, children will learn about the role that ants play in many ecosystems. Kids will observe the insect's behavior and learn its characteristics.

Looking at Leaves will take place on July 31. Participants will learn how leaves can help them to tell different species of plants apart as well as what else they may need to consider in identifying a plant.

Children may attend Grow As We Go on Aug. 21. Attendees will explore the life cycles of familiar wildlife and learn that living things grow and change.

Organizers encourage each child to have sunscreen and bug repellent applied before arriving. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged.

There is a fee per child per camp. For the registration links, visit http://www.acornacreswr.com/camp-acorn-acres/. More information is available by emailing info@acornacreswr.com.
