Kraybill Mennonite School Plans Camps

This summer, Kraybill Mennonite School will offer three summer camps. The school is located at 598 Kraybill Church Road, Mount Joy.

Basketball Camp will be held at the school from Tuesday, July 5, to Thursday, July 7, with the goal to offer a quick, fun, no-pressure way to learn or improve basketball skills. The camp will be led by Tricia Smoker and Rachael Shepard. Students entering kindergarten through grade two will attend from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and children entering grades three through eight will participate from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Lolly Kratz, Kraybill's home tech teacher and registered dietician, will hold a cooking camp with a baking theme of "Dreamy Desserts." The camp will be held from Tuesday to Thursday, July 12 to 14, for children ages 8 to 10 and from Tuesday to Thursday, July 19 to 21, for youths ages 11 to 13. Participants will take home the desserts they make.

The Edible Classroom will hold its summer garden camp at Kraybill from Monday to Friday, July 25 to 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The camp is for students entering grades one through six, and this year's theme is "What Can I Make With That?" Students will learn to make bucket planters, pickles, salves, dyes and more from the plants and vegetables growing in Kraybill's school garden. The camp will conclude with a celebration allowing families to taste snacks made by the students.

Each camp has a fee per student. For more information and to register, visit http://www.kraybillmennonite.org.
