The York Hiking Club will host hikes in June. For details, visit http://www.yorkhikingclub.com. In the case of inclement weather, contact the hike leader for updates.

During an 8-mile hike on Sunday, June 12, participants will explore a section of the Appalachian Trail, including the Darlington shelter and a unique mural at the Route 850 turnaround. Attendees will eat lunch at a shelter on the return trip and pass through a tunnel under Route 944. Those interested in a shorter hike can park their car at the Route 850 parking lot and only hike one way. Hikers should meet at the Emigsville Park and Ride at Exit 24 off Interstate 83 for an 8 a.m. departure. Attendees should bring water, lunch and snacks and wear sturdy hiking shoes. For more information, including details about the carpool fee, contact hike leader Janine Zell at 717-992-2476.

The York Hiking Club will have a table at the Experience Codorus Outdoors (ECO) event on Friday, June 17, from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. ECO is sponsored by the Friends of Codorus State Park in conjunction with Codorus State Park.

A 5-mile excursion on June 18 will include hiking on some of the camp loops and the Mary Ann Furnace trail loop at Codorus State Park. Portions of the trail are hilly, and hiking poles and hiking boots may be useful. Depending on the weather conditions, the trail could be muddy.

Attendees should meet at the Codorus State Park campground visitor parking lot by the camp store for a 1 p.m. departure. Anyone who needs directions to the meeting location or who would like to arrange an alternate meet-up location may call hike leader Andrew Bankowski at 410-493-3150 or acguy4u2day@gmail.com.

A 3-mile hike through Rocky Ridge County Park will take place on Sunday, June 26. Participants will depart at 1 p.m. from the wood fence in the large gravel parking lot at the end of Deininger Road. They will hike the blue rectangle trail and then connect with the white rectangle trail back to the parking lot. Attendees should bring hiking boots or trail shoes, as well as water. Hiking poles may be useful for the steep and rocky sections of the trail. For more details, contact hike leader Alan Noble at 717-758-8470.
