Graduating Seniors Speak To Younger Students

A group of 33 seniors made a series of visits to third-graders this spring with the return of the in-person High School Heroes program. The high school students brought their cheery personalities and favorite items to share, show-and-tell style, with members of the Class of 2031. Each Hero sat down with a small group of third-graders to discuss their high school lives, including future plans, hobbies, and personal best practices.

Teachers nominate High School Heroes at the end of junior year, and rising seniors receive invitations over the summer. Heroes train to be mentors by participating in a series of lessons based on positive decision-making and drug- and alcohol-free lifestyles. High School Heroes have varied interests and extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, or agriculture, so that every elementary school child can feel connected and inspired.

The 2022 High School Heroes are Grant Beiler, Mariah Beiler, Sidney Brinkman, Hannah Broderson, Maya Bowman, Emma Cliff, Brandon Coder, Jenna Daveler, Roudenie Francklin, Ava Grandizio, Michael Hayes, Ella Horst, Kiersten Hostetter, Morgan Lapp, Derick May, Cassie Meck, Christian Medina, Keiva Middleton, Hollyn Miller, Sabrina Phillips, Kati Platt, Jake Reichert, Cyan Rodriguez, Chad Royer, Tori Smith, Brooke Smith, Maddie Snyder, Bennett Stoltzfus, Eric Tran, Luka Vranich, Berkeley Wagner, Weston Weaver, and Matthew Wilson.
