Law Firm Announces Merger

Gawthrop Greenwood, a regional law firm with offices in West Chester and the greater Wilmington, Del., area, has announced a merger with the Chester County-based law firm Hudson L. Voltz.

Effective June 1, attorneys Hudson L. Voltz and Janet J. Satterthwaite have joined Gawthrop Greenwood's team of attorneys at their law offices in downtown West Chester.

Voltz is the managing partner of the Hudson L. Voltz firm, which he founded in Downingtown in 1992, representing individuals and families throughout the region in family law, estate planning, probate, business law and real estate law.

For 24 years, Voltz served as chair of the East Brandywine Township board of supervisors. He currently serves as vice chair and grants administrator of Bondsville Mill Park in East Brandywine Township. He is also the founder of the East Brandywine Foundation and serves on the board of directors of the Downingtown Area Recreational Consortium, which serves nine municipalities.

Practicing in Pennsylvania and also admitted in New Jersey, Satterthwaite serves clients who seek assistance in estate planning and probate administration, as well as numerous family law, small business issues and residential real estate matters. Her extensive work with elder law encompasses all aspects of planning for aging, illness and incapacity.

Founded in 1904, Gawthrop Greenwood has produced seven judges and 11 presidents of the Chester County Bar Association. The first female judge in Chester County came from Gawthrop Greenwood, as did two judges who went on to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, another who became a federal district court judge and three who have served as president judge of Chester County.
