The Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell Jr., pastor of St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, has become a published author with the release of his book, "Sunday Snippets from Fr. Dan: Everyday Lessons for Living a Christ-Centered Life."

The book is a compilation of more than 20 of his homilies preached during Sunday Mass before and during the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. The homilies are sermons related to the Sunday Bible readings.

Powell has been a Catholic priest for 30 years and the pastor of St. John Neumann Church in Manheim Township, Lancaster, for six years. In his tenure there, he oversaw the completion of an elementary school during the pandemic, renovations to the interior of the church and the growth in numbers of the congregation.

All funds collected from the sale of the book will be given to the members of St. Francis of Assisi in El Factor, which is St. John Neumann's sister parish in the Dominican Republic. Powell has been leading mission trips for more than 20 years to St. Francis of Assisi.
