Veritas Graduates Class Of 2022

Veritas Academy held its commencement ceremony on May 21 at Westminster Presbyterian, with 17 graduates receiving their diplomas. This year's keynote commencement address was given by legal scholar, political philosopher, and public intellectual Robert P. George.

In his address, titled "Truth, Courage, and Faith," George recalled speeches given by Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Abraham Lincoln to Americans. He exhorted Veritas Academy graduates, saying, "Those who do remember God and sincerely seek to do His will must look to him for the grace necessary to be His courageous and faithful witnesses."

Jania Weist, valedictorian, encouraged her peers in her address, saying, "As our time as Veritas students comes to an end, my hope is that we become loving, serving, thinking citizens and children of the King. ... Finally, I hope we continue to evaluate everything according to our biblical worldview, to think critically, and, of course, to question everything." Weist plans to attend Lancaster Bible College to major in sports management.

Jonathan Paton Walters, salutatorian, concluded his address by saying, "Let us go forward with hearts of gratitude by not taking for granted the many benefits that God has bestowed upon us." Walters will study humanities at Bob Jones University.

In addition to Weist and Walters, the graduates are John Adkins, Elise Cochran, Katherine Haluck, Sarah Jacob, Maura Knapik, Brayan Martin, Tyler Mitchell, Luke Moses, Owen Nissley, James Rawlings, Elianna Ream, Lilian Seifferlein, Xinjian Shen, Ciana Thompson, and Shengliang Yang.
