Lititz Library Sets Programs

The Summer Reading Program, themed "Oceans of Possibilities," will run through Thursday, Sept. 1, for adults age 18 and older and through Saturday, Aug. 13, for children and teens from birth through age 19. Prizes will be awarded. Registration is available at the aforementioned website, or participants may stop by the library for materials and more details.

The library offers several ongoing programs. Morning Yoga will take place at 9 a.m. on Fridays. Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, will gather from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 15. Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County will discuss "Applying Photometry to Variable Stars to Collect Magnitude Data for Research as a Citizen Scientist" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Tai Chi Easy will be offered at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Great Decisions Discussion Group will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10. The Painting Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Aug. 10 and 24. Tech Talk will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Ongoing programs will continue with a Jane Austen Society meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Buckhill Sleuths Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22. BYOB - Bring Your Own Book (Club) will gather to discuss current reading choices of attendees at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25.

A Hands-on Animal Program presented by Critter Connection will begin at 10 a.m. on Aug. 3 and is open to children ages 2 to 12. Attendees will learn about 25 animals, which they may touch and hold.

Phredd, the ukulele one-man band, will perform at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. The local singer-songwriter will play original tunes with the ukulele, harmonica, and suitcase drum. Children of all ages are welcome, but registration is required.

Mike and Roberta Straka will take attendees in kindergarten through grade eight on an exploration of life in the ancient seas during the Ancient Undersea Reptile Show at 1 p.m. on Aug. 9. The program will conclude with a 15-minute exploration dig.

A Vision Board Creation Class will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. to adults age 18 and older.

The jazz group Temple Avenue will perform an outdoor backyard concert on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Formed by Lancaster musicians and their friends at Temple University, the band plays jazz classics as well as its own interpretation of many well-known jazz and swing tunes. The program is suitable for people of all ages. Attendees should bring a blanket or chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move inside. Online registration is required and will begin on Thursday, Aug. 4.

Community Conversations will take place on Monday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. This brief, informal session will focus on some of the new programs and services the library now offers as well as provide an opportunity to offer feedback and share ideas for the future with library staff. No registration is needed.

The Robin Work Quartet will present a program of musical memories on Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature a selection of songs from the Great American Songbook, including music from the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and more. Robin Work has performed throughout the Eastern United States and Canada in musical genres ranging from pop to big band to jazz. Attendees should bring a blanket or chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held inside. Online registration is required and will begin on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Fall story times will return both indoors and in the backyard. Registration will open on Aug. 22.
