Pennsylvania Music Expo Planned

The Pennsylvania Music Expo, hosted by the Keystone Record Collectors, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, at Spooky Nook LANCO, 1901 Miller Road, East Petersburg.

The event is a shopping bonanza of records, both albums and singles; CDs; DVDs; and other music-related memorabilia/collectibles. The upcoming event will have two added attractions: a visit by rock historian and author Max Furek and Frank Jordan of the Jordan Brothers group. Both will be at the show from at least 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Furek, a northeastern Pennsylvania native, will be on hand to sell, sign and discuss his latest book, "Somebody Else's Dream: Dakota, The Buoys, and 'Timothy.'" The 350-page work talks extensively about the song "Timothy," listed as one of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's One Hit Wonders, and includes a comprehensive history of Wilkes-Barre's The Buoys, which later became Dakota.

Jordan is the author of the 1986 book "The Jordan Brothers: A Musical Biography of Rock's Fortunate Sons." Copies of the book will be available at the expo.

Admission to the Pennsylvania Music Expo is free. The Keystone Record Collectors is a nonprofit club dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the hobby of music collecting.
