Library Posts Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 27, for the annual benefit auction.

Food trucks will visit the library on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The trucks will be East Coast Mini Donuts and Mad Dash Concessions on Aug. 4, Cupcakes by Casey and Pretzel Truck on Wheels on Aug. 11, Next Level Pizza and Here We Dough on Aug. 18, and Brotherly Love Scratch Kitchen, Stoney's Burgers and Fries, and La Belle Bouchee on Aug. 25.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the Library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Summer Reading Program will end on Saturday, Aug. 13. Participants must turn in their reading logs to be eligible to collect prizes.

Child, youth, and family activities will include Lunch Bunch, for children age 7 and up, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at noon; Family Story Time on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 10:30 a.m.; Art Class in the Park, for children age 7 and up, on Monday, Aug. 15, at 1:30 p.m.; and Fun Family Book Bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m.

A Teen 'Zine Virtual program featuring author Alexandra Villasante will be offered via Zoom on Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. for youths ages 12 to 19.

The "So You Want To Be A ..." series will conclude at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 4. Brandi Murray of Tiny Estates in Elizabethtown will explore the life of an owner of a tiny home.

Lancaster County 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Club will present Puppies With a Purpose, a program about how puppies learn to be Seeing Eye dogs, on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. Puppies will be present to give demonstrations and interact with attendees.

Back to School Is Cool! - featuring stories and a craft - will be held on Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m.

Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on Aug. 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights, and a drink. Space is limited.

Daddy-Daughter Hair Fun! will take place on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. Fathers are invited to get ready for back-to-school mornings by learning how to create fun and easy hairstyles for their daughters. Kristen Pevarnik Cannon will lead a team of salon professionals from Details Salon and Spa.

The Adult Summer Reading Challenge, "Every Day's a Holiday," will end on Friday, Aug. 26. The grand prize drawing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Writers of all levels, from beginners to published authors, are invited to join the Easy Writer club for adults. The group will meet next on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Attendees should bring a piece of writing to share with the group. Members do not need to register or have a library card.

Programs for adults will also include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Aug. 8 and 22, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; A Gathering of Artists Club on Aug. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Make-It Monday - "Chill Out and Color?" on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m., open to people age 13 and older; and Lit Lovers Book Club on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m.

Adult Game Night will return on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m.
