Artists Exhibit Watercolors And More

Trinity Art Gallery at United Zion Retirement Community (UZRC) features work by award-winning artists and teachers Karen Frattali and Deb Watson in August. This primarily watercolor exhibit has a focus on nature, still lifes, animals and landscapes. The exhibit opened on Aug. 2 and will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Frattali, a lifelong resident of Chester County, started her career as a high school teacher in Media and currently teaches adult watercolor workshops throughout the Middle Atlantic States. Frattali was inspired by Andrew Wyeth to delve into realism in the medium of watercolor. Subjects of her artwork can vary with the seasons and include flowers, people, places visited and contemporary still lifes. Over the years, she transitioned from monochromism to a transparent and colorful palette.

Along with teaching and painting, Frattali participates in numerous national and international water media competitions each year. She has achieved Signature Status with Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Alabama and Louisiana Watercolor Society. She also served as a board member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.

Watson is a self-taught artist who has loved art from a young age. Even when she worked as a nurse, she painted and took local art classes in her free time. As her art activities took off, she made art and teaching art into a full-time career. She has exhibited in major art competitions and museums and has been published in national magazines. She concentrates in painting the world around her in a realism style. This exhibit will showcase works that are primarily quick demonstrations done for classes. Watson said that she often chooses subjects based on the lighting in the scene.

All visitors to the art gallery will be screened and are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth.

UZRC is located at 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz. For more information on the Trinity Art Gallery, including exhibiting, contact marketing@uzrc.org.
