44 Attend Mini Mules Camp

Solanco High School field hockey head coach Whitney Hawkins and her staff - Jane Keeler, Emily Parmer and Kaley Wilson, along with the high school players - instructed 44 players at the Mini Mules field hockey camp held Aug. 1 to 5 at the Solanco High School field.

Players were introduced to or reviewed dribbling, pulling, and passing/catching the ball. The older players competed in five-versus-five games to learn positioning and how to spread out appropriately. The kindergarten and first-grade group played steal the bacon.

"The weather was great this year with only one day inside," said Hawkins. "That gave us the chance to work on footwork and stick work. The last day we had three teams of all ages and did some competitions that involved sprinting, dribbling or aerial dribbling and then shooting on goal," she added. "It was a great week with very coachable players wanting to learn field hockey."
