The Solanco cross-country teams will kick off the 2022 season with a home scrimmage against Conestoga Valley, Pequea Valley and Octorara on Saturday, Aug. 27. That is also the date of the Solanco Cross Country and Track Alumni Association's ninth annual Coach Lee Rhodes and Coach Art Harrington Scholarship event. This event features a kids' fun run at 6 p.m. and an alumni race at 6:15 p.m. after the varsity team races, and it concludes with a family picnic. The girls will race at 5 p.m. followed by the boys at 5:30 p.m.

Alumni, family and friends who wish to support the scholarship fund may visit http://www.solancoxc.org and click on Alumni Association in the menu or email slcxcalumni@comcast.net. Opportunities to sponsor a scholarship sign for a minimum donation for the 2022 season are available. This year businesses are invited to sponsor a sign as well. Signs can be designed to share the company name, logo and contact information. All signs will be displayed at home cross-country and track meets.

"We award one Coach Lee Rhoades Cross-Country Scholarship (each to a boy and a girl) and one Coach Art Harrington Cross-Country and Track Scholarship (each to a boy and a girl) with the goal of being able to award four total scholarships," said Craig Ausel, alumni association board member. A total of $2,500 in scholarship money was awarded last year.

The cross-country teams will host Cocalico on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and will be home against Elizabethtown on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
