York Catholic Plans Events For Community

York Catholic (YC), 601 E. Springettsbury Ave., York, has planned a variety of events.

The public is invited to the We Are YC Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 10 p.m. at York Catholic Middle & High School. The event will feature hors d'oeuvres, silent and live auctions, entertainment, and an opportunity to view the new middle school renovations, which were part of Phase II-A of YC's capital campaign, "Grow Today, Impact Tomorrow."

Phase II-A included converting and modernizing the former Brady Science Hall, which serves seventh- and eighth-grade students. Renovations included restructuring and building 19 air-conditioned classrooms, science labs, a central office, and additional restrooms. Phase II-A also included renovations to the stadium bleachers and the addition of a new press box. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and classroom blessing by school chaplain the Rev. John Kuchinski were scheduled to take place on Aug. 29. Phase II-B is scheduled to conclude next summer with the relocation of the Grotto from the rear of the building to the front and the addition of a Rosary Walk and campus wayfinding signage.

Proceeds from the We Are YC Celebration will benefit the York Catholic Fund. Reservation and sponsorship information is available at http://www.yorkcatholic.org, and registration will close on Friday, Sept. 2. More information and registrations are also available by contacting Laurie Moir at 717-846-8871, ext. 1322, or lmoir@yorkcatholic.org.

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade at York Catholic's partner schools are invited to attend several activities. Attendees may spend time with the varsity players and coaches, listen to the coaches' pregame instruction, participate in team prayer, sit together to cheer on the team, and pose with the team for a picture. No registration is necessary.

Futures are invited to attend the following games, taking place at the stadium unless otherwise noted: boys' soccer on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m., with arrival by 5:45 p.m.; girls' soccer on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m., arriving by 5:45 p.m.; girls' volleyball on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium, arriving by 6:30 p.m.; football on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., with arrival by 6:15 p.m.; cheerleading on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., arriving by 6:45 p.m.; and marching band on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., arriving by 5:30 p.m. in the band room.
