MCC Posts Quilting Supplies Sale

Throughout the year, donations of fabric, sewing supplies and unfinished quilting projects are given to the Material Resources Center (MRC) in Ephrata. These items come from people who are cleaning out their sewing rooms, downsizing their homes or closing their fabric stores. Bringing their donations to the MRC keeps quality sewing and quilting items from ending up in the landfill. It also helps to support the ministries of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in relief, development and peacebuilding.

While typically sold at the annual Quilt Preview in the spring, these items will instead be available for purchase this fall at the Quilter's Yard-age Sale. Supporters should note that there will be no Quilt Preview or Yard-age Sale in March 2023. Named after the substantial amounts of fabric yardage for sale, the event will take place on Friday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MRC, 517 W. Trout Run Road, Ephrata.

In addition to both quilter's cotton and craft fabric, the Quilter's Yard-age Sale will feature unfinished quilt projects, vintage items, quilt books and magazines, patterns, sewing tools and supplies. Pam Silverman, quilt room supervisor at the MRC, noted that high-end quilt kits and needlepoint scrims and threads will be among the items. Upcycled items handmade by MRC volunteers will be available for purchase, including woven rag rugs and table runners, tote bags, potholders and aprons made from donated textiles. In addition, the Yard-age Sale will feature pre-priced finished quilts and wall hangings.

Cash or checks only will be accepted. Proceeds from the Quilter's Yard-age Sale will benefit MCC's ministries around the world. MCC is a global, nonprofit organization that strives to share God's love and compassion for all through relief, development and peace.
