Lititz Library Posts Calendar

Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, will offer a variety of events to the community. Preregistration is not required for most programs. For more details and registration, contact the library at 717-626-2255 or register@lititzlibrary.org or visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org.

A virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest will start on Monday, Oct. 3. Families are invited to decorate or carve a pumpkin to look like a favorite book character or to be funny, scary, or unique. Photo entries should be emailed to the aforementioned address. The deadline for entries is Friday, Oct. 28. Pumpkin photos will be posted on the library's Facebook page and in the library. This contest is open to people of all ages. Prizes will be awarded. Visit the previously mentioned website for contest rules.

Backyard Story Times for families will be offered on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The program will be canceled if it rains. Attendees should bring chairs or a blanket.

The library offers several ongoing programs. Morning Yoga will take place at 9 a.m. on Fridays. The Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, will gather from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Oct. 3 and 17, and on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. Tai Chi Easy will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct 4. Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County will discuss "Some Unusual Facts About the Moon and How the Moon Affects the Earth" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Tech Talk at the Library will meet on Oct. 5 to discuss "OverDrive and Libby" at 1 p.m. The Painting Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 12 and 26. The Great Decisions Discussion Group will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 to discuss foreign affairs.

Ongoing programs will continue with a meeting of the Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a cup of tea and all things Austen. The Genealogy Club will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19. BYOB - Bring Your Own Book (Club) will meet on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. to share what members are currently reading. The Literary Travelers Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.

The Lititz Garden Club will present a talk on "The Native Pawpaw Tree" by Gini Cormier on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m. No registration is needed.

The Baked Books Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Participants will read "Practical Magic" by Alice Hoffman and taste Chocolate Tipsy Cake. To register, contact Diane at dguscott@lititzlibrary.org.

A movie matinee will feature a showing of "Little Shop of Horrors," which is rated PG-13, on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. Popcorn and a drink will be provided. Registration will open on Thursday, Sept. 29.

"Ghostly Love Stories from Pennsylvania's Past," part of the Oehme Performance Series, will be presented by storyteller Bill Wood on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. Wood will delve into the lore and legends of eastern Pennsylvania. Registration will open on Oct. 6.

The Lititz Art Association will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25. No registration is needed.

A jazz concert featuring The Anna Alexander Trio will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. Seating is limited. Registration is required and will begin on Oct. 13.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will feature the story "Cool Cats" on Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The program is geared to children ages 3 to 6 and is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, children and caregivers will visit stations intended to help with skills needed to start school.

The Lititz Public Library's Fall StoryWalk title is "Dog's Colorful Day" by Emma Dodd. The StoryWalk begins to the right of the library entrance and moves counterclockwise around the library.
