Tours To Focus On Mourning Rituals

LancasterHistory, 230 N. President Ave., Lancaster, will host special guided tours of Wheatland on Saturday, Oct. 1. Tours will be available on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until the last tour at 3 p.m.

Titled "A House in Mourning," the tours will share information about the rituals and traditions that Victorian Americans followed to commemorate the passing of loved ones and revered figures. Attendees will learn about the culture of mourning, decor, and how thousands paid their last respects to James Buchanan when he died on June 1, 1868, at Wheatland.
