Volunteers Sought For Parade

The 25th annual Millersville Parade, a joint effort of Millersville University (MU) and the Borough of Millersville, is looking for volunteers for Saturday, Oct. 22. Dozens of positions are available. The parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will feature the theme "Animal Kingdom."

The parade route is 2 miles in length, beginning at Penn Manor High School, 100 E. Cottage Ave., Millersville, and ending past MU's Student Memorial Center. Volunteers are needed to perform a variety of duties, such as assisting with the lineup of entries, handling flags, serving as costumed characters, distributing flyers, supervising street intersections, and answering questions from spectators. Volunteer service times will vary depending on the assigned job, but the average time on Oct. 22 should not exceed three to four hours in the morning. Some positions require walking 2 miles.

Volunteers must be at least age 16. All volunteers will receive a free parade T-shirt and a free lunch after the parade. No experience is necessary, and instructional training will be held during the early morning on Oct. 22 in the cafeteria at Penn Manor High School.
