Milagro House Event To Feature Author

Milagro House will present An Evening of Miracles with Stephanie Land on the main stage at the Fulton Theatre, 12 N. Prince St., Lancaster, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., followed by a book signing and dessert reception.

Land is the author of the memoir "Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive," which inspired the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated Netflix series "Maid." Land's story provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the intergenerational cycle of poverty and its ripple effect on individuals, families, and the community as a whole.

Land's experiences mirror the journeys of the women at Milagro House. Her eventual access to educational opportunities gave her the opportunity to move herself and her daughter from poverty and homelessness to a sustainable future.

Tickets may be purchased at https://milagrohouse2022.eventbrite.com. In addition to tickets being offered for sale to the public, Milagro House is providing tickets to several nonprofit community partners free of charge to ensure access to this event.

At the heart of the Milagro House program is removing the barriers to education women in poverty face. For 25 years, Milagro House has opened its doors to mothers with children who are facing homelessness. Women live at Milagro House with their children at no cost. While at Milagro House, they have an opportunity to complete their education, explore careers and job opportunities, network with local employers through job shadowing and mentoring, and strengthen skills and knowledge in budgeting, parenting, healthy relationships, and nutrition. Each woman's journey is supported by services that include counseling, case management, advocacy, and connections to community resources.
