Lighthouse Vocational Services Plans Banquet

Lighthouse Vocational Services will hold its annual dinner banquet on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:15 p.m. at Shady Maple, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl. In addition to the meal, the event will include a message on the topic "Advocate Like Jesus" from Stephanie Hubach, an author, an advocate, and a parent of a child with a disability. The Lighthouse Choir, made of up individuals in the organization's programs, will present music.

A freewill offering will be received to help participants to continue attending programs at Lighthouse. This event is free but requires a ticket. To sign up, email katiemartin@lighthousevoc.org or call 717-354-0355.

Founded in 1975 with Christian values and principles, Lighthouse Vocational Services serves nearly 200 adults with developmental disabilities by providing job training, work experience and programs that nurture creativity. Lighthouse believes that God created every person with value and purpose. Located in New Holland, Lighthouse offers career-centered programs such as the Vocational Training Program, where persons learn job skills and soft skills in a sheltered workshop, and Employment Services, where participants work at local businesses to gain vital job skills.

The organization's day program includes creative skills such as music and painting and practical skills like cooking and baking. Lighthouse also offers 16 online classes, with focuses such as joyful movement, book clubs, social clubs, art, music, baking and gardening. Individuals may also engage with the community and volunteer at local nonprofits. Lighthouse is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
