Enjoy Autumn In Chester County

The Downingtown Farmers Market will be open on Saturdays, Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market, 28 E. The Good Food Fest, which is designed to celebrate local food and agriculture, will be held at the Kimberton Fairgrounds, 762 Pike Springs Road, Phoenixville, on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farmers market will feature live music, food trucks, cooking demonstrations and free children's activities. The Historic Yellow Springs Fine Arts & Craft Show will be held in the Lincoln and Washington buildings at Historic Yellow Springs, 1685 Art School Road, Chester Springs. Artisans will display jewelry, ceramics, fiber arts, wood, sculpture, paintings, drawings and photography. As part of its "Critter Crafts" program, Chester County Parks + Preservation will present a class on how to build a natural bird feeder using pinecones and peanut butter. The 21st annual Chester County Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24, at Downingtown West High School (DWHS), 445 Manor Ave. The event will include a 5K race, a 2-mile walk and a kids' fun run. In addition to supporting the DWHS cross-country team, proceeds of the race will benefit the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation. Local residents are reminded to view the fall foliage throughout Chester County. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania has a longer and more varied fall foliage season than any other state in the nation.

Local sites where fall foliage can be seen at its finest, in addition to the ChesLen Preserve, include Marsh Creek State Park, 675 Park Road, Downingtown; Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square; the Stroud Preserve, 454 N. Creek Road, West Chester; and the Brandywine Museum of Art, 1 Hoffman's Mill Road, Chadds Ford.
