Halloween, Fall Events Planned

With the arrival of autumn, local groups have planned Halloween and fall-themed events. Community members are also reminded to get outdoors to enjoy the fall foliage.

The annual Elverson Halloween parade will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, beginning at 7 p.m. along Route 23 in the borough. This year's theme is "Back to the '90s." The rain date is Thursday, Oct. 20. For complete details, visit http://www.elversonboro.org.

The Birdsboro Rotary Halloween Parade will take place on Oct. 20. Registration will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at Daniel Boone Area High School, 501 Chestnut St., Birdsboro. The Honey Brook Lions Club will present the Honey Brook Halloween Parade on Monday, Oct. 24. There will be no rain date. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. at Wide Spread Rentals, Suplee Road, Honey Brook. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. The parade route will travel along Route 322 and end at Honey Brook Fire Company. The Warwick Fall Fest has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Road, Pottstown. The event will include live music, inflatables, a craft sale, hot air balloon rides, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, a rock wall, face painting and food. The ninth annual Tricks and Treats for Tweens and Teens will be presented by the Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road, Honey Brook, on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. Open to youths ages 10 to 17, the event will include crafts and treats. The Geigertown Fire Company, 3433 Hay Creek Road, Birdsboro, will hold a trick-or-treat night on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. Children will be able to collect Halloween candy, and there will also be food, games, a photo area and fire trucks on display. The Fall Elverson Antique Show and Sale will take place at Twin Valley High School, 4897 N. Twin Valley Road, Elverson, on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 40 dealers will showcase folk art, Americana, stoneware, furniture, textiles and advertising. Local residents are reminded to view the fall foliage throughout the area. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania has a longer and more varied fall foliage season than any other state in the nation. Pennsylvania has 134 species of trees and many more shrubs and vines that contribute to the various autumn colors.
