Peregrine Falcon Program Planned

The Lancaster County Bird Club (LCBC) will meet on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. The program will be "Recovery of the Peregrine Falcon" presented by Dan Brauning, a retired wildlife biologist. A short business meeting will precede the program.

Brauning will provide a broad overview of the statewide and national efforts to bring back an endangered species. He was hands-on with this effort from the earliest reintroduction efforts in the 1980s through the federal and state de-listings. The program will include reflections on Brauning's experiences banding many hundred nestlings at locations such as interstate highway bridges, natural cliffs, and urban skyscrapers. The program is a celebration of the restoration of the world's fastest flying bird to Pennsylvania.

Members of the public are invited to attend free of charge and may call 717-856-3851 or 717-725-2717 with questions. To learn more about the club, visit http://www.lancasterbirdclub.org.
