Library Sets Open House, Food For Fines Program

The Adamstown Area Library, 110 W. Main St., Adamstown, will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, to celebrate the second year in the new library building as well as the ExtraGive. The library will offer refreshments, a Thanksgiving basket giveaway, crafts for kids, music, games, and tours of the building.

The library invites the community to come out to see all the improvements made since last year, enjoy free refreshments and entertainment, and learn about the services the library offers. For more information, call 717-484-4200.

Additionally, the library will collect food donations in lieu of fines through Food for Fines. On Monday to Wednesday, Nov. 21 to 23, library patrons may bring unexpired, unopened, nonperishable food donations to the desk and the library will waive up to $6 in fines from their account. This will apply only to fines on Adamstown Area Library items, not lost items or items checked out from other Lancaster County libraries.

Donations will then be dropped off to the First Friday Food Drive at Warehouse 916 on Dec. 2. Real Life Community Services distributes this food to local families each month through the Cocalico Food Pantry. All items should be good through the end of 2022.

Regular library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
