Concert To Feature Violinist

Arts on the Square, a series of musical and fine arts events, will present violinist Andrew Sords with pianist Elizabeth DeMio in "Romance of the Violin" on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at historic Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second St., Harrisburg. The program will include works by Brahms, Beethoven, Bloch, and Franck.

Born in Newark, Del., Sords was raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He began piano lessons at the age of 5 and soon started violin lessons. His studies led him eventually to the Cleveland Institute of Music and Southern Methodist University. He has performed in the U.S. and abroad as a soloist and recitalist and in performances with his trio. He has appeared with nearly 300 orchestras on four continents.

DeMio is a collaborative pianist, recitalist, and soloist in the Cleveland area. Besides performing in over 100 concerts annually with local aspiring musicians, she has toured and given master classes in several cities in the U.S., Korea, and Mexico. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she currently teaches.

Parking will be provided by the church in the adjacent Market Square parking garage. Attendees are asked to enter the church from the first level of the garage or from the event entrance on Second Street. The church is handicapped-accessible.
