On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, Manheim Township Police Department (MTPD) and Manheim Township Fire Rescue (MTFR) will participate in their inaugural Turkey Bowl at the Manheim Township Athletic Complex, 2883 Weaver Road, Lancaster.

The event will be a flag football matchup between MTFR and MTPD personnel, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

The two departments will be playing for more than bragging rights, as they will be accepting nonperishable food items, as well as toys for Toys for Tots. Those who can't attend the game may donate before the event at any MTFR fire station or at MTPD headquarters.
