Audubon Society Sets Programs

The Quittapahilla Audubon Society (QAS) has planned two programs, which are free and open to people of all ages.

Marci Mowery, president of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), will present "Exploring Your PA State Parks" on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St., Lebanon, near Monument Park. A well-lit, spacious parking lot is located behind the church along Spruce Street, and attendees are asked to enter the church from the parking lot entrance.

Pennsylvania's state parks and forests provide myriad opportunities for engaging in the outdoors. Mowery will explore the history of and opportunities in these places and will provide a list of new places to explore. A native of Lancaster County, Mowery spent her youth exploring the natural areas of the county and the mountains near her family's camp, which shaped her future as a professional conservation leader. Her 27-year career spans various positions with the National Audubon Society and her current position with the PPFF.

On Sunday, Nov. 20, QAS will offer a field trip for the observation of the flora and fauna. Participants should meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail Jonestown trailhead. For more details, contact leader Fritz Heilman at 717-273-0487.
