Special Holiday Events Planned

Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey, will host two special holiday events. The public is invited to attend.

The Presbyterian Women of Derry Presbyterian Church will hold a cookie walk from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, in the fellowship hall. A wide variety of home-baked cookies, including gluten-free options, will be for sale by the pound, and customers can mix and match to create an assortment of their favorites. Some cookies and baked goods will be individually priced. Proceeds will support mission work of the church.

The Jumbles Shop will offer jewelry, Christmas decorations, collectibles, and items suitable for gifts, priced as marked. In addition, handmade greeting cards will also be available, with sales supporting scholarships for Presbyterian Education Board students in Pakistan.

"Jesus the Messiah: The Promise Fulfilled" will center on themes found in Isaiah's promise of a peaceable kingdom. The joyful Christmas concert will be presented at 2 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, in the sanctuary. The concert will also include carols for all to join together and sing. A freewill offering will be received. The concert is part of the church's 2022 Arts Alive Cultural Series.

The Christmas concert will feature the church's Sanctuary Choir, a brass quintet, the Derry Ringers, Dan Stokes on piano and the church's 1950 Aeolian-Skinner organ, sopranos Janice Click Holl and Julie Miller, mezzo-soprano Amy Yovanovich, and baritone Mitchell Sensenig-Wilshire.
