ELANCO Library Posts Calendar

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is required for most activities. Weekly story time programs beginning at 10:30 a.m. are Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 on Tuesdays and Toddler Thursdays on Thursdays for children from birth to age 3 and their siblings.

Teen Tuesday Clubs will meet on Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Each week, youths age 12 and older will explore a topic such as STEM, creative writing, arts and crafts, or book discussions.

Teen Tuesday Special Edition will feature "Finding Financial Freedom" with Christina Diehl at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Diehl will discuss her latest book, "MoneyGirl: How You Can Attract Wealth, Nurture Your Soul, and Obtain Financial Freedom," and provide information on spending, saving, giving, homebuying, and more. Then, participants will form teams and compete to see who can most successfully navigate the financial challenge dealt them.

A special story time, Money - Earn, Save, Spend, Give, will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. Participants will explore the basics of money and finance with age-appropriate stories and activities.

The Lego Creation Club will gather on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. Using Lego bricks, participants will build themed creations that will be displayed in the library.

Music & Movement will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver. This musical story time is designed to promote language development and reading readiness skills while providing young children with joyful introductions to a variety of music and music-making experiences.

Beyond Dementia 101: Details of the Journey will be held on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. Steve Klotz, coordinator of Dementia Friendly Lancaster County, will discuss the phases of dementia and what to expect along the journey, from the perspective of a person with dementia and from the perspective of a care partner. This program will include a segment on dealing with holidays as a care partner and time for questions and answers.

Hooks & Needles, a yarn craft club, will meet on Monday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. Knitters and crocheters will gather to work on projects. Beginners are welcome.

Coffee & Conversation: Discussion With Differences, a conversation circle where adults can meet and socialize, will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m. Poems of Maya Angelou, Wendell Berry, Naomi Shihab Nye, and others will serve as the starting point for discussions on what unites and what divides people. Attendees should bring their own coffee. Light refreshments will be served.

STEM Workshop: Gingerbread House Construction Zone will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. People of all ages are invited to stop by the library to design and decorate their own gingerbread house to take home. To ensure there are adequate materials, registration is required. Registration will open Thursday, Dec. 1.
