Zimmerman Center Posts Activities

A Holiday Open House will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. The event will feature bake oven demonstrations, s'mores, popcorn stringing and luminarias. Guided history presentations will start on the half-hour. The event is free and open to the community.

The Zimmerman Center "Old Times" Lecture Series will present "History of the Susquehanna River" by Jeri Jones at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Jones will use evidence of volcanoes, continental collisions, monumental floods, and ancient creatures found in the rocks in and along the Susquehanna River to take attendees on a geologic journey through eons of time, describing the events that led the Susquehanna to become such a wonder of nature.

There is a cost to attend, and preregistration is required. Copies of Jones' book "Geologic Guide to the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail" will be available for sale.
