East Earl resident Brandi Gerig, who works in BAYADA Home Health Care's Lancaster Pediatrics Office, recently received the Ann Baiada Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award by BAYADA Home Health Care, a not-for-profit home health care provider. Gerig, a clincial manager, was chosen for the award out of a pool of thousands.

The award was issued during November, which is National Home Care and Hospice Month. During the observance, the home care and hospice community honors the millions of nurses, home care aides, therapists and social workers who make a difference for the patients and families they serve.

Gerig has been touching the lives of local pediatrics patients and their families for more than 20 years. One special relationship of note is with Shirley Titus and her family. Shirley suffered from seizures and daily neurological events for the entirety of her life, and Gerig was there every step of the way, ensuring Shirley's safety. When Shirley passed away from her illness, Gerig served as a constant source of support for the family.
