Christmas Event Planned At Meetinghouse

The seventh annual Christmas at the Wenger Meetinghouse will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. at the 1871 Historic Wenger Meetinghouse, 16 Supervisors Drive, Jonestown. Community members are invited to attend. An open house of the restored meetinghouse - the interior of which will be decorated for the Christmas season - will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Christmas at the Wenger Meetinghouse will include Christmas traditions from the past, such as Scripture and Christmas songs in both Pennsylvania German and English. Music will be provided by Die Schwadore Schalle (Swatara Sounds), and in closing, "The Night Before Christmas" will be read in Pennsylvania German. Die Schwadore Schalle is directed by Alice Spayd, who teaches Pennsylvania German at the Brendle Museum of Historic Schaefferstown Inc.

Light refreshments will be available. There is no fee to attend, but donations toward the preservation of the meetinghouse will be accepted.
