Library Plans Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24; Monday, Dec. 26; and Saturday, Dec. 31.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Santa will be at the library on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. Each family in attendance will receive a photo with Santa compliments of Lanco Federal Credit Union, along with a treat to take home. Copies of holiday books will be available for purchase. No registration or library card is needed. This event is sponsored by the Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce.

The Cupcakes by Casey food truck will be parked at the library during Santa's visit.

The Classical Guitar Society of Lancaster will present a salon-style concert of classical guitar pieces as well as holiday tunes on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m.

The Central Pennsylvania Blood Mobile will be at the library for a blood drive on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Identification is required, and scheduled appointments are recommended. Activities will include story time for families at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15; Homeschool Spanish Class for kids age 7 and older on Dec. 8 and 15 at 1:30 p.m.; Fun Fort Friday for families on Dec. 9 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m.; Homeschool Art Class for people age 7 and up on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m.; Lego Challenge on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo for people age 7 and up on Dec. 20 at 6 p.m.

Homeschool STEM and History Mystery will be combined for a special program this month. This program will be held on Dec 20 at 10:30 a.m. for children age 7 and up.

A Holiday Family Story Time will be offered on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. The program will feature Christmas-themed stories, songs and a holiday craft.

For adults, the library will offer Adult Game Night on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Make-It Monday - "Holiday Ornaments" for people age 14 and up on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m., with space limited; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Dec. 17 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; adults-only bingo on Dec. 21 at 2 p.m., with space limited; and A Gathering of Artists Club on Dec. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library will not meet in December. Their next gathering will occur on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

The Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, also will not meet in December. The next gathering will be on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required.
