Young Musicians Plan Recital

The Workshop for Young Performing Artists (WYPA) will present its winter recital on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at The Bachman Center, 633 Community Way, Lancaster. WYPA consists of young musicians preparing upper-level classical music for public performances. The group meets once each month, three times in the fall, and three times in the spring, with recitals in the winter, spring and summer.

The upcoming concert will include music by Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Brahms, Chopin, Grieg and others. Performers will present solos on the piano, violin or flute. The student participants are Jonah Ahlers, Brian Bogle, Holly Bogle, Peter Hasse, Kaleb Lambert, Candace Mbugua, Marty Raine, Sean Skinner, Christian Wienckoski, Matthew Yang and Emma Zdrojewski.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be received to benefit the mission of WYPA's sponsor, the Musical Art Society, to bring music to the community and provide scholarships for young musicians. The Musical Art Society is a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs.

Students studying classical music may audition to join WYPA by contacting Margaret Marsch at margmarsch@gmail.com.
