A covered dish dinner and a talk on the Appalachian Trail will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at the York Township Park Building, 25 Oak St., York, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Gwen Loose will speak about the three women who helped to start the Appalachian Trail.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, a 4.5-mile hike will be offered just south of the Mason Dixon Line near Parkton, Md. Participants will hike on the Northern Central Railroad Trail called the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail along the Fourth Mine Branch of Little Falls Creek. Participants should meet at the York Vo-Tech off Queen Street, York, or at the trailhead.
