YCL Launches New Service

York County Libraries (YCL) has launched a new digital book service for readers, the Libby app by Overdrive, which replaced the Axis360 service. With a library card, members of the community will be able to borrow titles from YCL's digital collection by downloading the Libby reading app or by visiting https://ycl.overdrive.com/.

Libby will connect first-time users and experienced readers with YCL's digital collection. The locally selected collection offers e-books and audiobooks including bestsellers and new releases. Readers can select from subjects including mystery, romance, children's, business, and more.

Cardholders can borrow up to five digital e-books and audiobooks at a time through Libby and place up to 10 items on hold at a time. The checkout period is the reader's choice of either seven or 14 days. The service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, and Chromebook. Through Libby, readers can also "send to Kindle." All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, so there are no late fees. Readers can also download titles onto Libby for offline use.

Patrons can get helpful tips for using the new service by going to http://www.yorklibraries.org/eBooks, reading the YCL News blog, or attending one of OverDrive's free Getting Started With Libby webinars via Zoom. For more information, contact questions@yorklibraries.org.
