Country Band To Perform

The classic country band Elisha Grant and Common Ground will perform on Friday, Feb. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Eicher Arts Center, 409 Cocalico St., in Ephrata Borough's Grater Park. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Elisha Grant and Common Ground's country repertoire includes outlaw and honky-tonk styles, and the group also plays light classic rock and '50s music.

Elisha Grant, lead vocals and acoustic guitar, got his inspiration to play music when he was a boy, listening to his father and uncles play Appalachian music on guitars and the banjo during hunting season at the family's hunting camp in Potter County. Grant later became an enthusiast of rock bands such as CCR, Deep Purple and Johnny Winter before rediscovering the country music of performers such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. He became a songwriter as well as a guitar player, performing throughout Pennsylvania.

Kirby Martzall, electric guitar player and vocalist for Common Ground, has opened for acts such as Gordon Lightfoot and Roy Buchanan. Joey Nichols, who performed with the Nichols Brothers Band for 25 years, is a bass guitarist, harmony singer and music arranger for Common Ground. Drummer Dave Force's musical influences included the James Gang and Buddy Rich. Pedal Steel guitarist Bob Herr shared the stage with performers such as the Charlie Daniels Band and Clint Black.

The Feb. 24 show will be the second entertainment show of 2023 hosted by the nonprofit Eicher Arts Center Inc.

There will be a cover charge. Food and drinks will be available on-site from Brewster's Bar-B-Que and TMD's Traveling Bar.
