Swarr to exhibit artworks

Frederick Swarr, a resident of the Warwick Woodlands in Lititz and a member of the Lititz Art Association (LAA), will be the LAA Artist of the Month for February. Throughout the month, his artworks may be viewed at Purple Robin Reserve, 47 E. Main St., Lititz.

Swarr will exhibit his latest series, "Famous Visionary Artists." He created each piece by reconstructing and enhancing a reproduction of artwork by a favorite artist and then adding the artist's portrait in the foreground. Swarr, who has a teaching background in art history, created the pieces after researching photos and paintings done by the artists.

Swarr will also exhibit his "Musical Celebrities" series at a Makers Market on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Linden Hall gymnasium during the Fire & Ice Festival in downtown Lititz. Linden Hall is located at 212 E. Main St.

He began each of these collage-type paintings with a background depicting sheet music for a song made famous by the celebrity he planned to paint. Swarr was inspired by the celebrities' facial expressions, and his goal was to portray a visual image of the feelings that people have in their hearts and minds when they first get to know a celebrity or legendary personality.
