Wagman Heavy Civil Receives Partnering Award at MdQI

The Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) hosted its award banquet on Feb. 2 during its 30th annual conference in Baltimore, Md. Wagman Heavy Civil Inc. took home the Excellence in Partnering Award for a project over $10 million for the Maryland Route 32 dualization from Linden Church Road to I-70. The awards are open to engineers and contractors who successfully deliver public sector transportation projects in the state of Maryland.

The $85 million design-build project for the Maryland State Highway Administration included converting 6 miles of a two-lane road into a four-lane divided highway, with goals including reducing traffic congestion and providing enhanced safety for motorists. Three existing bridge structures were replaced, as well as 4,500 square feet of stream relocation of multiple tributaries to the Middle Patuxent River, including the relocation of the river itself.

The partnering team included the Maryland State Highway Administration, Gannett Fleming and Whitman Requardt & Associates, with Wagman serving as the design-builder on the project.
