Free throw champions honored

The winners of the Knights of Columbus (KofC) St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Council 6810 Free Throw Championship were honored at an awards ceremony held during halftime of a Franklin & Marshall basketball game on Feb. 8.

The boys and girls, ages 9 to 14, received council champion certificates and engraved trophies. The council 6810 competition, which was held at St. Philip the Apostle gym on Jan. 29, drew contestants from Lancaster, Millersville, Mount Joy, Strasburg, Elizabethtown, Landisville, Marietta and Willow Street.

Each of the winners also earned the right to compete in the KofC District 115 Free Throw Championship held on Feb. 6. Winners of the District 115 competition were invited to compete in the KofC Central Eastern Region Free Throw Championship on Feb. 19 at St. Joseph School in York. Winners from the regional levels then move on to state, national and international levels.

Local award winners included Andrew Rimert, Daemen Juarbe, Ben Rimert, Brady Biggs, Lilah Conklin, Carter Magyar, Cydney Patrick, Ava Pisano and Noah Westermann.
