Elizabethtown Grange presents jackets to FFA members

Elizabethtown Area Grange 2076 presented jackets to first-year members of the Elizabethtown FFA chapter on Jan. 31. The presentation was made by Elizabethtown Grange Master Matt Espenshade, who was assisted by chapter vice president Evan Espenshade at the Elizabethtown Area High School in the presence of agriculture students and faculty members.

Due to the time frame when the students had their required agriculture class, they were not eligible to apply for the state foundation scholarship. FFA chapter adviser Mark Anderson contacted Elizabethtown Grange to ask if the Grange would consider sponsoring any of the students. Each student was required to submit an essay answering several questions, including what he or she hoped to achieve during his or her time in the FFA program. After submissions were evaluated by several Grange members, the Grange's members decided to purchase jackets for all of the applicants.

The students receiving jackets were Alex Brandt, Josiah Bernhart, Trent Kautz, Abby Lerch, Cami Lewis, Rachel Smucker and Adilynn Ginder. This is the second year the Elizabethtown Grange has purchased jackets for the local FFA chapter.

Elizabethtown Area Grange 2076 is a family-oriented fraternal organization that advocates for issues important to agriculture and rural communities. For more information, contact Espenshade at 717-361-2844.
