Dayspring to present "Willy Wonka"

Dayspring Christian Academy's middle and high school students will bring Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka" to the stage. Shows will be presented on Friday, March 24, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 25, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. The school is located at 120 College Ave., Mountville.

"Willy Wonka" tells the story of Charlie Bucket, one of five children who find themselves in possession of golden tickets that enable them to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and meet the eccentric Wonka. Along with his grandfather, Charlie must navigate Wonka's rules inside the factory or find himself in trouble.

The play features senior Jackson Stone as Wonka and sixth-grader Jimmy Fannin as Charlie Bucket. Other actors include Liam Guion as Augustus Gloop, Arctura Diffenderfer as Veruca Salt, Aaron Collier as Mike Teavee, and Grace Stoltzfus as Violet Beauregarde. Fellow students play the Oompa-Loompas. The show is directed by Ric Weaver with Dayspring senior Jude Prestidge as assistant director.

Sally Armstrong, Dayspring drama coordinator, said "Willy Wonka" was chosen because the show teaches children what kind of character traits to avoid and contains lessons for people of all ages.

This is the second year that the school will offer preferred seating for the shows. Preferred seating tickets are available on a limited basis at all shows. Additionally, the matinee showing on March 25 at 2 p.m. is pay-what-you-will. For all other shows, separate general admission prices have been set for students, for adults, and for a combination of two student tickets and two adult tickets. Tickets may be purchased at http://www.dayspringchristian.com.
