Suggestions sought for barn tour

The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County and the Historical Society of Cocalico Valley are joining forces to plan a self-guided Lancaster County Barn Tour. The organizations will create a keepsake tour book with photos and information on each of the barns featured on the tour for the public to purchase and then use for a self-guided driving tour across Lancaster County. Organizers are aiming for a launch date in October, and the tour will be ongoing thereafter.

Members of the public are invited to nominate their favorite Lancaster County barns for consideration to be included on the tour. To nominate a barn by Saturday, April 15, visit https://hptrust.org/lancaster-county-barn-tour-fall-2023/.

All submissions will be reviewed and considered by a committee, which will select the final list of barns to feature on the tour. Not all submissions will be included in the tour. This will be an exterior-only tour. Tourgoers will not enter the property or the interior of the barns.

To be nominated, a barn must be visible from a public road, be at least 50 years old, have historical or architectural significance and either be presently used as part of a working farm or have been repurposed for another use.
