Historical society sets meeting

The Mount Joy Area Historical Society will host Jean Ellis as the guest speaker at its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Cemetery Road Schoolhouse, 120 Fairview St., Mount Joy. Refreshments will follow the program. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The topic of the presentation will be "Seven Degrees of Separation: The Lancaster County Roots of Celebrity." Ellis will share about a genealogical research project that unearthed an unexpected connection between Lancaster County and an international celebrity, who will remain unknown until revealed at the program. The presentation is designed to be educational and entertaining.

Ellis lives in Mount Joy, is past president of the Mount Joy Area Historical Society and has written and edited five historical journals for the society. A graduate of Millersville University, she is currently editing the organization's next publication, "Gone, But Not Forgotten: A Compilation of Mount Joy's Lost Buildings."
