Local projects receive grants

Multiple local projects will benefit from more than $3 million in grant funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development's Statewide Local Share Account and Multimodal Transportation Fund.

Grants were awarded to Berks County Redevelopment Authority Community, $125,000 for a Gregg Avenue project; Greater Reading Chamber and Economic Development Corporation, $142,346, Franklin Street Transit-Oriented Development Strategic Plan; Sinking Spring Borough, $99,983, Yard Waste Equipment; West Reading Borough, $100,000, Gateway Project; West Reading Borough, $113,552, Street and Security Lighting; Spring Township, $800,000, Wyomissing Sewer Project; and the City of Reading, $500,000, construction of a modern, multi-purpose training and special operations facility located in Cumru Township.

Also, Wyomissing Borough, $400,000, ADA and safety improvements at Stone House Park; Antietam Valley Municipal Authority, $376,379, vehicle equipment upgrades for use in Alsace Township, Mount Penn Borough, Exeter Township, St. Lawrence Borough, and the City of Reading; West Reading Borough, $264,750, security camera upgrades along the main commercial area, at the police department, and at the municipal building; and Reading Water Authority, $165,649, monitoring upgrades for the Maidencreek Filter Plant.
