Spring Fungi Series slated

The Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education will host a new Spring Fungi Series in collaboration with the Eastern Penn Mushroomers. The series will take place at the Horn Farm Center, 4945 Horn Road, York.

The series will spotlight the diversity, versatility, and ecological significance of nature's great decomposers. In addition to exploring fungi from scientific, ecological, and cultural perspectives, students will participate in mushroom forays at the Horn Farm Center led by experienced local foragers.

Session topics will be "Introduction to Mycology" on Sunday, April 23; "Medicinal and Culinary Uses" on Saturday, April 29; "Mushroom Cultivation" on Saturday, May 13; and "Ecological and Alternative Uses for Fungi" on Saturday, May 27. All sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is a cost per session. Participants can register for individual sessions or sign up for the full course at a discounted cost. Preregistration is required to attend.
