Program to focus on Battle of Gettysburg

The Hershey Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg. The meeting will also be livestreamed via Zoom and Facebook Live, and a video will be posted at http://www.hersheycwrt.org later on.

Scott Hartwig will present "Buford and Reynolds Pick a Battlefield." Hartwig will talk about the critical command decisions of Meade, Lee, Buford, Reynolds, A. P. Hill and Henry Heth that led to the battle occurring at Gettysburg on July 1, and why in particular the decisions of Buford and Reynolds placed the Union Army of the Potomac in a favorable situation for the larger battle of July 2 and 3.

The meeting is free and open to the public. All persons interested in the history of the Civil War are invited to attend.
