Library sets schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming options. All library programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and do require preregistration. The library will be closed on Saturday, May 27, and Monday, May 29.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The library will not accept book donations from Tuesday, June 6, though Tuesday, July 4.

Programs for children and teens include Super Science for children age 3 and older on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m.; Lego Challenge on May 2 at 6 p.m.; Family Story Time on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May 3 to 18 at 10:30 a.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; Fun Fort Friday for families on Friday, May 12, from 5 to 6 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, May 9, at 6 p.m.

Several activities have been planned especially for homeschoolers age 7 and up. Homeschool Art Class will be held on May 9 at 10:30 a.m. The library will offer Homeschool History Mystery/STEM at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23.

On Friday, May 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., children and families are invited to help Miss Jan make decorations for the library's float for the Mount Joy Memorial Day Parade. Then, on May 27, library families are invited to ride the float in the parade; those interested should contact Miss Jan.

Activities for adults will include game night on May 3 at 6 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, May 8 and 22, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; book bingo on Wednesday, May 17, at 2 p.m.; Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, on May 17 at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, May 20, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Make-It Monday - "Melted Crayon Jewelry," for people age 16 and up, on May 22 at 6 p.m.; and Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers, focusing on "Surviving Savannah" by Patti Calahan, on May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library will meet on May 8 at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

The Central Pennsylvania Blood Mobile will be at the library for a blood drive on Thursday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Identification is required, and scheduled appointments are recommended. A community plant exchange will be held on May 20. Registration is requested. Between 9 and 10 a.m., individuals may bring a plant or two in a nonreturnable container and with the plant type clearly marked. They may return between 11 a.m. and noon to pick out new plants. After noon, any remaining plants will be sold by donation.

The Classical Guitar Society of Lancaster will perform a free concert for the public at the library on May 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. The ensemble will present pieces composed for classical guitar. Light refreshments will be offered.

Allen Clements will present "The Wonderful World of Composting" on Wednesday, May 10, at 6 p.m. Clements, a certified biodynamic farmer, documentary filmmaker, and advocate for regenerative agriculture, will cover the basics of composting and vermicomposting. Space is limited.
