Vietnam Round Table to meet

Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet on Thursday, May 11, at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m.

Following a brief business meeting, John D. Laskowski from Carsonville will discuss his Vietnam experiences as an aircrew radioman with Airborne Early Warning Squadron 1 in Agana, Guam, for weather reconnaissance and radar surveillance of the Pacific Theater. Laskowski graduated from Upper Dauphin High School in 1964 and then attended Millersville State College from 1964 to 1967. He was drafted as a senior in 1967. Following his discharge on June 6, 1971, he returned and graduated from Millersville State College in 1972. He taught biology at Penn Manor High School and also completed graduate school.

After a 28-year teaching career, he retired to the 128-acre Carsonville Tree Farm he co-owns with his brother, Allan L. Laskowski Jr. He is a founding member of the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in Millersburg and has served on the board of the Pennsylvania Forestry Association since 1983.

The meeting is open to the public, and all persons interested in the history of the Vietnam War are invited to attend. Donations will be accepted.
